The Vgent Group family, led by the Vgent Foundation Inc., gave a rousing welcome for the return to base of the Don Bosco Gasmonta Philippines Football Team after their remarkable stint at the  Fragaria Cup  held in Presov, Slovakia from 3 to 7 July 2010.  The whole delegation, numbering to seventeen, arrived last Saturday afternoon, July 10, 2010, via China Airlines.

They may not be able to win any game, but their defiant stance in each and every match they played won many hearts and gained accolades from their European counterparts. As one parent aptly put it early on, the local boys got a beating, but they took it very manly and with dignity.  In the end of the 5-day competition, they undeniably made their mark as graceful losers.

Interestingly, it was the first time in the long history of the Fragaria Cup that an Asian country took part in this event. That was why the entry of the Philippines was big news in the football-loving Eastern Europe. Further, the DB-Gasmonta Philippines team was the only team which had the rare opportunity to have a group photo taken with the city mayor of Presov. Much more, signatures of the young locals were stamped on a football ball to be archived as the first Asian football team to ever grace Fragaria Cup.

The Vgent Group takes pride in sponsoring the Don Bosco-Gasmonta Philippines Football Team to this recently-concluded Fragaria Cup.  It has been a most worthwhile endeavor as it paved the way for the local young hopefuls to show their wares in their beloved sports on a world stage. The experiences learned, friends gained, and respects earned were all priceless and unforgettable.
