To dream anything you want to dream
Wednesday, 02 June 2010 07:51

Fel_face_picTO DREAM ANYTHING THAT YOU WANT TO DREAM.  THAT IS THE BEAUTY OF THE HUMAN MIND.  TO DO ANYTHING THAT YOU WANT TO DO.  THAT IS THE STRENGTH OF THE HUMAN WILL. TO TRUST YOURSELF AND TO TEST YOUR LIMITS.  THAT IS THE COURAGE TO SUCCEED.

UNIVERSE.  Europe's Ariane 5 rocket made this week its 50th flight from the Kourou spaceport in French Guiana.  The rocket lifted away from the launch pad, carrying two telecommunications satellites with a combined mass of almost eight tons.  After failing on its very first mission in 1996, the Ariane 5 has developed into a highly reliable vehicle with a dominant role in the launcher market.  About half the world's large commercial comms satellites now launch on Ariane.

WORLD.  UN chief Ban Ki-moon and Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni took part in a football match in Ugandan capital Kampala to highlight the plight of war crime victims. The event comes ahead of a conference reviewing the progress of the International Criminal Court since its establishment in 1998.  Many Ugandans have fallen prey to war crimes. The aim of the match was to  capitalize on World Cup fever sweeping across Africa in an attempt to draw attention to the cause.

Oh God
Tuesday, 01 June 2010 07:51

Emmanuel_TiponOh God, make us all blond, blue-eyed, beautiful, brown, and English-speaking before we get to Phoenix

"By the time I get to Phoenix she'll be rising
She'll find the note I left hangin' on her door
She'll laugh when she reads the part that says I'm leavin'
'Cause I've left that girl so many times before

By the time I make Albuquerque she'll be working
She'll prob'ly stop at lunch and give me a call
But she'll just hear that phone keep on ringin'
Off the wall that's all

By the time I make Oklahoma she'll be sleepin'
She'll turn softly and call my name out loud
And she'll cry just to think I'd really leave her
Tho' time and time I try to tell her so
She just didn't know I would really go."

Urgent needs of the Magsingal District Hospital
Friday, 28 May 2010 12:54

teresougalinoGood morning Dr. Tobias,

I/we greatly appreciate your very prompt response to our request. It's immensely important for us to have this information and in time for our general membership meeting on July 10, 2010. This would be our main agenda and MOA members are very responsive to any projects intended for the Needy. You're all cordially invited to join us.

Please get in touch with our National, Provincial Hospital/ Provincial and Local governments and inquire the most cost effective way to obtain these medical equipments . Please share us  the estimated costs and hopefully, its within MOA's modest means. We might have to conduct several fundraising events to meet our Magsingal District Hospital needs.

Likewise, please coordinate with the same honorable public officials, Governor-Elect Luis "Chavit" Singson, Incumbent Congressman Ronald Singson, Vice Gov.Jerry Singson with his JCS staffers and Dra. Carmeliza  T. Singson. about our 2nd Medical/Dental/Minor Surgical Mission in the First Quarter of 2011. Our local newly-officials has yet to be announced by COMELEC.

Looking forward to hear from you for any suggestions concerning the medically related subjects.

Thanks again and God Bless Us All,

Brotherly yours,

Tereso U. "Esong" Ugalino

Obama: Kiss of death in Hawaii
Tuesday, 25 May 2010 11:05

Emmanuel_Tipon HONOLULU. - It appears that an endorsement by President Obama is a "kiss of death" for a candidate in the United States, like an endorsement by President Arroyo is a "kiss of death" in the Philippines. This was true in Massachusetts, in Pennsylvania, and now, the unkindest cut of all, in Hawaii, Obama's home state.

The people of Hawaii rejected the Democratic candidates -- Colleen Hanabusa and Ed Case -- whom Obama endorsed in a robo phone call. They voted for Charles Djou, a Republican, the underdog, who said he would be the exact opposite of Obama, a fellow Punahou School graduate and Ivy Leaguer (University of Pennsylvania).

"NO" TO PROFLIGATE SPENDING

The vote is an expression of frustration with Obama and the Democrats and their profligate spending.  Djou said: "I will never forget that every single dollar the government spends comes from a family like yours."

Djou, a lawyer and current member of the Honolulu City Council, said that he would not have voted for the health care reform bill but supports individual choice health care reform and inter-state sale of health insurance policies. His father being an immigrant, he favors legal immigration but opposes amnesty for illegal aliens. He is a member of the Army Reserve and supports a strong defense and a key role for Hawaii in American strategic military operations. He is for "don't ask, don't tell" and against gay marriage. He is for lower taxes and against earmarks. His educational reform plan is to put children first, not teachers union first. This much we gathered when we interviewed Djou on our radio program in Hawaii before the elections.

It takes courage to push yourself to places
Tuesday, 25 May 2010 10:58

Fel_face_picIT TAKES COURAGE TO PUSH YOURSELF TO PLACES THAT YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN BEFORE, TO TEST YOUR LIMITS, TO BREAK THROUGH BARRIERS. AND THE DAY CAME, WHEN THE RISK IT TOOK TO REMAIN TIGHT INSIDE THE BUD, WAS MORE PAINFUL THAN THE RISK IT TOOK TO BLOSSOM.

UNIVERSE.    The astronauts on the shuttle Atlantis's latest, and probably, last mission to the space station have made their first spacewalk.  Mission specialists Garrett Reisman and Steve Bowen ventured outside the platform to install an antenna and a robot tool tray.  Atlantis arrived at the station this week following a picture perfect launch from Florida Friday last week..  The ship's crew of six are spending the next week at the 350 kilometer-high outpost.

WORLD.  Floods have swept through parts of Europe, killing at least six people.  The weather caused disruptions in Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Serbia, and Slovakia. Many of the deaths occurred in southern Poland, where people were drowned after having been swept away by fast flowing water. About 2,000 people have been evacuated in the Krakow region. Houses, roads and railways between Krakow and the southern mountain resort of Zakopane are under water.

Magsingal, one of 33 national treasures
Monday, 24 May 2010 11:34

There are indeed many great things about Magsingal worthy of celebration.  Just to see the name of Magsingal Church in this list of 33 national treasures in the Philippines evokes a lot of pride in the old town that we all come from.  The following article came out from Inquirer today.  A really good reason for us Magsingalenos to help preserve this church and be proud as Magsingalenos.

Magsingal Election
Thursday, 20 May 2010 09:17
teresougalinoDear kailians,

On May 10, 2010, general election was held in our native land. On the national level, it has been decided or results are kind of known. However, in our beloved town of Magsingal, it looks like nobody has really claimed victory or conceded. Figures are in the Internet but COMELEC has yet to make announcements?

Neither thus the readers of MVP see any note of congratulations  for the winners to be proud of or losing parties to concede. Pinnaliiw? Town mates are utilizing Facebooks exchanging informations(mis) gossips of disorders, misconduct accusations between the candidates, mistreatment of voters, etc.

What I know, is that The Filipino Channel (TFC/ABS-CBN) in the US had a news-flash that our municipal hall had dawn commotions pertaining to the suffrage process.  My friends from different neighboring towns alerted me about this incident.  Reliable sources from the State of Hawaii report  the same and alleged individuals are not Magsingalenos .
